The first three hires AI-native founders delay
Three roles that traditionally get hired early, that a founder running real workflows on Claude can often cover solo longer than conventional wisdom expects — not forever, but longer.
An executive assistant. Inbox triage, meeting prep, scheduling — these are exactly the recurring, judgment-light tasks a weekly review and a few well-built workflows cover well. The relationship-heavy version of this role (someone who anticipates what you need before you ask) comes later; the mechanical version comes free with the habits this site teaches.
A junior marketer. Drafting launch posts, social content, and first-pass positioning copy is real Claude Code and Cowork territory once you have VOICE.md dialed in. What a junior marketer would otherwise spend weeks learning about your voice, a well-written memory file gives you on day one.
A data analyst. A metrics dashboard built from raw exports, refreshed on a schedule, covers most of what an early analyst hire would — see a metrics dashboard with no analyst. Real analytical judgment on ambiguous questions still benefits from a human; routine reporting doesn’t.
None of this means never hiring for these — a growing team eventually outgrows what one founder plus Claude can carry. The point is the delay is often longer than founders assume, and the right trigger to finally hire is usually volume or complexity outgrowing what a workflow can handle, not the role existing in principle.
